Seán Hughes is a television editor and producer based in Glasgow. He has worked on English and Irish language projects for television and web broadcast.

Seán Hughes qualified with first-class honours from the Higher Diploma in Television and Media Production at SETU in 2022. As part of this course he produced, directed and edited his film An Cnoc which won Best Irish Language Production at both the Student Media Awards and the Fastnet Film Festival and was broadcast on Irish national broadcaster TG4.

Since then Seán has gone on to produce and edit a number of episodes of the Drawing from the Well web series for the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) in Dublin. This is a popular series of music documentaries produced to the highest standards.

Seán worked as an assistant editor on Brendan Gleeson’s Farewell to Hughes’s, a documentary co-produced and presented by actor and musician Brendan Gleeson. This documentary was part of the Official Selection for Dublin International Film Festival in 2024.

He has also worked as a producer and editor for the ITMA on its series Taoscadh ón Tobar, an Irish language series of music documentaries commissioned by and broadcast on national broadcaster TG4. This project saw Seán carry out the edit, the online edit, and meet all television broadcast-standard deliverable requirements.

Seán is comfortable working in both Irish and English. He is an accomplished traditional Irish musician and he has a passion for music, storytelling, folklore, landscape and literature.

Seán is proficient in the use of Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer. He has also worked with Final Cut and DaVinci.
